I am a painter working in acrylic and mixed media. I lived for many years on the West Coast of Scotland and developed an affinity for mountains and the Atlantic coast. I am now based in beautiful rural North Fife surrounded by rolling hills and arable land. I am lucky to have lived in these beautiful places. Living and experiencing the atmosphere first hand leaves you with enduring memories which inspire my work.
I am heavily influenced by the elemental nature of my surroundings, and the intrinsic connections between the seasons and the land. The essence of my work is the abstraction of this connection . The colour, the texture, the feeling of just being a small part of natures vastness and beauty are part of my work.
Working in subtle layers of colour often with coloured pencil, metal leaf or pastel as well as acrylic paint, compositions show hidden complexity. It is this complexity creating simplicity that, for me, illustrates the beauty of nature and its affect on the land and what I see as an artist.
Iam represented by a number of galleries please see here for further information of where my work is available. I am a member of the Society of Scottish Artists.
